Master the Art of Live-Fire Cooking
The #4660 puts you in total command of your heat. Using our signature side-wheel height adjustment system, you can effortlessly raise or lower the grilling surface over your wood or charcoal fire.
-
Searing: Lower the grate to inches above the coals for a perfect, high-heat crust.
-
Roasting: Raise the grate to slow-cook larger cuts, allowing the smoke to penetrate the meat without burning the exterior.
Built for Durability
Choose the construction that best suits your environment:
-
Black Steel: A rugged, traditional appearance featuring a heavy-duty steel frame and a stainless steel grilling surface for the best of both worlds.
-
All Stainless Steel: The ultimate in corrosion resistance—highly recommended for coastal regions, humid climates, or luxury outdoor builds.
Key Features
-
No-Flange Bolt-In Design: Specifically designed for open-front masonry fireboxes. The frame bolts directly into the masonry side walls for a clean, integrated finish.
-
Argentine V-Grate & Drip Pan: Slanted V-grates channel grease and juices away from the fire into a removable drip pan. This prevents flare-ups and keeps the flavor clean.
-
Side-Wheel Control: High-heat bearings and heavy-duty cabling ensure smooth, precise height adjustment every time.
-
Multi-Fuel Ready: Designed to handle the intense heat of split hardwood, lump charcoal, or briquettes.
-
Customizable Grate: Standard with V-grates; Round Rod grates are available upon request for those who prefer a classic profile.

Pro-Tip: Seasoning Your Argentine V-Grates
Maximize flavor and ensure a lifetime of performance.
Just like a fine cast-iron skillet, your NorCal Ovenworks V-grates perform best when properly seasoned. Because our grates are designed to channel grease away from the fire, building a "non-stick" patina is essential for easy cleanup and preventing rust on black steel models.
-
Clean: Wipe down the grates with a damp cloth to remove any debris from shipping or installation.
-
Heat: Build a medium fire using hardwood or charcoal and bring the grates down close to the heat for about 15 minutes.
-
Oil: Using a long-handled brush or a cloth clamped in tongs, apply a thin layer of high-smoke-point oil (like grapeseed or canola) across the entire grilling surface and inside the V-channels.
-
Bake: Allow the oil to bake onto the metal until it stops smoking. The grates will darken—this is the goal.
-
Repeat: For best results, repeat the oiling process 2–3 times during your first few cooks.
Why Choose a NorCal Argentine Grill?
The Argentine method is widely considered the superior way to cook over fire. By combining our V-grate technology with an adjustable height system, you eliminate the bitter taste of grease-fire smoke and replace it with the clean, smoky aroma of burning wood. It offers a level of control that standard charcoal grills simply cannot match.
